Knights Roll Past Brighton 19-4






The Sutherland Knights defeated the Brighton Barons yesterday 19-4 at McDonough Park in Geneva, NY in the Section V Class A Semi-final. The Knights pounded out 21 hits and scored in every inning in the rout. Every Sutherland starter had at least one hit, RBI and run scored.

B. Kaczka went 3 for 3 with two doubles, 4 RBIs and a run scored. G. Heyman went 3 for 4 with 2 RBIs and a run scored. J. Swisher went 3 for 5 with two doubles a run scored and an RBI. S. Lowe went 3 for 4 with an RBI and two runs scored.

Zach Salvia hit a long three-run homerun in the 5th inning that blew the game wide open.

M. Gibbs picked up his sixth win of the 2011 season by going 5 innings and giving up two earned runs. Gibbs had his 25 inning scoreless streak snapped in the second inning. Gibbs defeated Brighton twice this season and gave up a total of 2 earned runs vs. the Barons in 11 innings pitched.

Sutherland plays Batavia at McDonough Park on Friday at 7 30 pm in the Class A Final.
